Sundial Winds is a woodwind quintet composed of Shasta Symphony members: flutist Joanie Smith, oboist Lindsey Hastings, clarinetist Vince Karlson, hornist Ezra Costa, and bassoonist Dan Matthews. The quintet will offer an eclectic mix of music through the ages from Mozart’s “Overture to the Magic Flute” to a piece composed by our hornist Ezra Costa titled “Voyaging.” Other selections include Eric Ewazen’s “Cumberland Suite,” composed and dedicated to the Cumberland Quintet who premiered the work in 2004, and Jacques Ibert’s “Trois Pieces Breves.”
